June 1, 2006 - Paint Pots Trail in Kootenay National Park, BC

The Paint Pots trail is about 10km (6 miles) west of the Continental Divide on highway 93. 

The trail goes over the Vermillion River on a suspension bridge, here is a picture from the middle of the bridge:

The scenery is still wonderful:

Close up it looks like oil in the water:

The trail to the Paint Pots was quite muddy so we didn't go since we didn't have the right shoes:

The view was still great on the way back.

We also saw many azaleas and rhododendrons that will be blooming in a few weeks on the trail to the Ochre Beds.
