December 15 to 19, 2006 - Las Vegas, NV

We left Death Valley and drove 149 miles to the Thousand Trails Las Vegas Preserve.  This campground is known for small spaces so we knew it would be a tight fit and was.  The other two Las Vegas campgrounds we had stayed at also had tight spaces, it is normal here.  The price for this one, $0/day, was right and we were setup.

In the evening we went to Ethel M Chocolate for the holiday lights.  It was crowded since they had Santa so we didn't pull out the tripod and only a few pictures came out:

Inside the store where they were doing so much business that they had run out of some varieties.

A flash photo outside to show how they strung the lights.

We decided to come back another evening to buy chocolates and to use the tripod for photos.

We shopped, we had some nice meals out, and we dealt with cold weather.  Padraic came over the evening of the 17th to visit, his blog is http://rvescapade.blogspot.com/ .

On the 19th we again went to Ethel M and here are some photos using a tripod:

On the way back to the campground we stopped and viewed houses that were decorated:

This one was visible for many blocks since the lights went high up:

We found that the Central California Italian chain, Strings, had a restaurant in Las Vegas and it was only a couple miles from our campground.  Our friends Larry and Connie recommended the Red Rock Casino buffet and we tried it and agree.  Since it is a Station Casino our players card worked for a discount.  We also found a Bahama Breeze and enjoyed it.

We also completed all of our shopping so we accomplished our goals for Las Vegas.
