June 23, 2006 - The drive into Alaska

The road was really bad from Destruction Bay on, lots of frost heaves and some gravel sections.  We just kept driving and didn't stop much.  At one stop we saw this bird begging:

Finally we made it to the Alaska border, here is proof that Diane and the motorhome made the journey:

The international boundary is kept clear by the two governments, here you can see it go off to the south:

Both the Yukon and Alaska government had informational signs:

Here is an explanation of thaw bulbs, which everyone but the government calls "frost heaves" on roads.

US Customs went fast and we we were on our way.
