November 4, 2007 - Powerboat Parade, Part 1

We went into Key West on November 4th to try the frozen chocolate dipped Key Lime Pie at Key West Ice Cream Factory, which uses their own Key Lime Pie.  They are right by the Schooner Wharf Bar, where the fish hang out:

While enjoying our chocolate dipped Key Lime Pie we wandered down to see what cruise ships were in town.  We decided that the chocolate dipped Key Lime Pies were great.  They could be habit forming.

This is the SilverSea Silver Shadow:

The Disney Magic:

Walking back to the car we saw that something was happening on Duval Street.  Turns out it was the first day of the Powerboat Racing and today was the parade:

The Budweiser Clydesdales:

Look at how big those hooves are!

Some bars got Clydesdale deliveries during the day.  They had Miss Budweiser, the hydroplane, parked in town on a truck.  Budweiser also had a powerboat in the parade but we did not get a good photo.  We learned later that Budweiser no longer is in the hydroplane business but likes to take a display hydroplane around for publicity.

Some of the haulers were as interesting as the boats.

This all-black boat was hard to see in a photo:

Not just boats in the parade:

Lots of boats, only a sample in these photographs:
