November 6 to 23, 2008 - Phoenix and Mesa, AZ

We left Casa Grande on November 6 and drove 76 miles north to the north end of Phoenix and set up camp at Desert Sands RV Park.

November 11th we met some Boomer BOF friends at Rancho de Tia Rosa in Mesa for lunch.  It was great as always both for the food and company.

November 12th sunset from the campground.

During our time in Phoenix we explored the north end of town and back towards the east where Cummins was.  We probably won't camp in this part of the metro area again, but now we know.

We found a really nice place for a reasonable lunch close by, Chicago Gyros, and visited it twice.  We also ate at Islands again.

November 13th we drove 39 miles and camped at Val Vista Village in Mesa, AZ.  We ended up with a fancy campsite.

November 18th we met Dave and Connie at Rancho de Tia Rosa for lunch and it was a hit with them.  This time it was about a 3 mile drive instead of 35 miles.

Nice hibiscus in their garden.

We didn't take photos of Dave and Connie, but did take a photo when we saw them in West Yellowstone, MT in June.   We had a great visit.

Sunset November 18th.

We also met up with Larry and Connie while in the area, who we had not seen in two years and had lunch with them at Good Egg and dinner at Serranos in Queen Creek.  They are camped close to their children and grandchildren and just took a vacation to Jamaica.

We enjoyed being in Mesa this time, it worked better than Apache Junction did in February and March 2006.  If we come back to Val Vista Village we will be paying the much more reasonable monthly rates, the daily and weekly rates are quite high.

Another new place we ate at was Daphne's Greek Cafe, a chain and it was good.  We also revisited Fuddrucker's, On the Border, and Mimi's for meals.  The Mesa Fuddrucker's now has ostrich burgers so Diane was happy.

Now we are off to Yuma.
