March 2 to 9, 2011 - Hesperia and Santa Barbara, CA

We left Menifee on March 2nd and headed back to Hesperia and after 70 miles we were camped next to Misty's house.  It all looks about the same as our last stay in February except this time we hooked up to water and a septic cleanout.

Evita is relaxed here.

We enjoyed our time here.  Sabrina made a cake one day that we enjoyed for dessert a couple nights.

We had meals out at Mimi's, Golden Gate and Spring House.

March 8th we drove 174 miles to the Santa Barbara Elks lodge.  This is our first stay here and they only had space for us for two nights.

Our last stay in the area was in March 2009, but this stay we were in town.

Tight campsites where the car needs to be in the main lot, but it is 50AMP power.

Verizon internet is flakey and a bit slow here, but we can live with that for two nights.

It was Fat Tuesday so we went to the special dinner at The Palace Grill.  A bit more than we normally spend, but it was a special treat.

Diane's Plantation Fried Chicken Salad which Diane felt was large enough for a main course.

Bill's House-Smoke Roasted Andouille Sausage:

Diane is ready for Mardi Gras.

Bill's Louisiana Crawfish Étoufée.  It has been years since Bill had Étoufée and this was the best ever.

Diane's Chicken Tchoupitoulas, which she enjoyed.

We both had the Louisiana Bread Pudding Soufflé and loved it but forgot to take photos.  A very enjoyable evening and worth the money.  It was still a decent temperature when we got home close to 10PM.

The weather was great both days and on the 9th we heard that Los Angeles set a record high of 81 degrees.  We did a bit of beach touring and it was sunny, warm and fairly calm

Beach photos and Videos on March 9th

A Mourning Dove by the Elks lodge.

Now we are off to Santa Maria for a few days.
