January 1 to 16, 2012 - Port St. Lucie, FL

We are now well settled into our spot in Port St. Lucie.

It is fun seeing the birds here along with lizards, squirrels and rabbits.

On the 6th we decided to go over to Okeechobee just to explore and to see the lake.  We had not looked at the lake or city since December 2003.

We had a decent meal at Mom's Kitchen in Okeechobee and then headed for the lake.

This puppy in the parking lot was very happy and loved people.  Busy, busy and his family having to keep a close eye on him.

The foot bridge out to see the lake.

A couple lousy photos of an American Bittern.  We also saw one by a pond close to the campground one day while driving.

When we got back we had a steak dinner at the clubhouse.  Since Rich and Diane are back in town they came over for the dinner.  We had not seen them since September 2010 when we were in Nappanee, IN.

We had put the windshield cover back on after the Christmas tree was down and after we moved some magnets to make it fit tight.   Notice the tire covers are also on.

A sunset from across the road from our campsite.

On the 12th there was a fire in the distance.  Probably a house fire but we did not hear any news about it.

The weather has mostly been good.

We did eat out a bunch.  One day we had lunch at Duffy's with Rich and Diane.  We had dinners with Jon and Chris at Carrabba's, Shindig's, Frank & Al's and Chili's.  We had lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse on a shopping trip down to the Palm Beach area.  Bill had a take out lunch from Five Guy's when Diane finished her huge leftovers from Frank & Al's.  There are a lot of good restaurant choices close by.

We will be here about another month.
